About Us
South African National Boxing Organisation (SANABO) is a South African National Boxing Organisation is an autonomous controlling and administrative body of the sport of “Open Boxing” in South Africa. SANABO is affiliated to the International Boxing Association. South African National Boxing Organisation is affiliated to the International Boxing Association (IBA), along with the African Boxing Confederation (AFBC). SANABO is also affiliated to the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC), and Sport and Recreation South Africa (SRSA). SANABO oversees all the nine South African provincial affiliates and under the provincial affiliates are the districts with their respective municipal boxing clubs in the governance structure. SANABO has a mandate organises national competitions such as the SANABO School ages, Juniors, Youth and Elite National Championships including other IBA competitions such as Boxing Leagues and international competition. SANABO competes in the subregional Zone Four Boxing Championships under the auspices of AFBC, in which 14 member countries of the Southern African Development Community (SADEC) participates. SANABO aims to be one of the top leading open boxing nations in Africa and to be ranked among the top 12 leading boxing nations affiliated to the world governing body IBA.

Direct, develop, promote, safeguard and administer the Sport of „Open Boxing‟ within South Africa. Ensure that the encouragement, promotion, development and administration of the Sport of „Open Boxing‟, whether same be at National Provincial, District and Municipality level, is carried out in accordance with the principles of non-discrimination on any grounds.

To develop the sport and spirit of boxing in all its forms, in the light of its educational, cultural and sports values and to encourage the development of boxing throughout South Africa as well as to promote boxing as a healthy, educational and fitness activity for men and women, to foster the safety of boxers and their welfare at all levels.
